Off-grid systems are micro power plants at your home or business that generates power by itself. This power is stored and can be used as and when the need arises – even at a future date. It has a power source and a storage unit. Solar Off-Grid systems are the most common off-grid systems. They consist of mainly three components 1) Solar panels 2) Off-Grid inverter and 3) a battery bank.
Solar off grid systems otherwise known as Remote Area Power systems are:
- for those living in locations where direct electricity connection isn’t available from the grid, or
- is very expensive to get connected, or
- those who rely diesel gen-sets for their electricity needs
So if you fall under one of these categories you should consider getting an off-grid system to save on electricity or diesel costs
Off-grid systems should be designed by experts as they are slightly difficult to configure and install. Installation is usually preceded by a site inspection to affirm the size of the system required and assess other technical parameters to enable the system to work efficiently
