There are mainly three types of solar power systems:
- Grid tied solar power system – where electricity produced is automatically fed back into the grid, usually for a fee, viz. Feed in tariff. Find out more.
- Off-Grid solar power system – where the electricity grid is not available or when you want to produce your own electricity without having the need to go to an electricity provider. Find out more
- Hybrid solar power system – is a combination of the above two. Solar hybrid system can produce electricity, use it directly as well as store the energy for a later use that is during the evening or night. Find out more
All these systems are designed to help people save on electricity costs. The point of differentiation is how you want to deal with electricity companies. For e.g if your electricity usage is more during the day then consider getting a grid tied system. If your electricity usage is more during the evening or night then consider getting a solar hybrid system. If you’re in an area where the electricity grid is not available or you don’t want to be connected to the grid at all then consider getting an off grid solar power system.
There are more criterion to help decide which system is best suited to your needs, but they are beyond the scope of this article. To find out more please contact one of our sales consultants to help you make a more informed decision.
