The battery rebate scheme has been afoot since July 1st, 2019. However, the team at Energis feels there needs to be more awareness around this incredible government incentive. So, here are 4 things you need to know about battery rebates!
Savings
The first thing you need to know about battery rebates is, of course, the savings! Over the course of 2019-2020, the Victorian Government is releasing 1,000 rebates. This great incentive allows you to get up to $4,838 off a solar battery system. On top of that, according to Solar Victoria, installing a battery to your existing solar power system could save an average household up to $640 a year! Currently, there are 544 left out of the 585 released. Find out if you are eligible below.
Eligibility
There are many considerations to take into account when applying for a Solar Victoria battery rebate. It is crucial that you understand the eligibility process before contacting a company about getting a quote. Factors such as your combined household income, your location, ownership along with other criteria, must be met for the installation of your battery to go ahead under the rebate scheme. Please keep in mind, if your property has had solar installed as part of the Solar Homes Program, then you are not eligible for the battery rebate. See full criteria here.
The team at Energis would be more than happy to run you through the criteria and help you through the eligibility process.
Finding an Authorised Retailer
The most crucial thing you need to know about battery rebates is making sure you have an authorised retailer to undertake your installation. As Solar Victoria has strict safety and quality standards, these must be met to ensure all battery rebate customers are receiving quality products and service. After confirming you are eligible, you must make sure to do your own research on companies offering batteries. You must determine if they are a Clean Energy Council (CEC) Approved Retailer and offer products that meet the industry standards and are a part of the Solar Victoria’s approved products list (like Energis).
Getting a Quote
Once you have identified an approved solar retailer, it is now time to get in touch for a quote. Next, when you are happy with your quote, you can then use it to apply for eligibility via the Solar Victoria Portal. When your application is successful, you will be issued your eligibility number and QR code from Solar Victoria. Then, you can take these details to your chosen installer/retailer and the installation process can commence.
