Solar for Rental Properties
For the Rental Properties program, there will be two streams.
Stream A will be open from 1st July and the Strem B will be open later in 2020.
Stream A
Stream A will offer a up to $1,850 rebate on rental properties with the landlord paying the remaining cost of the solar power system once a Solar Homes Landlord-Tenant Agreement is signed.
Solar Victoria will pay the rebate amount to the solar retailer and Landlord can pay the rest of the ourstanding balance directly to the solar retailer once the system is installed.
For example, if you are a landlord and you are looking at a $5,000 system, with the rebate, the upfront cost will be $3,150.
Stream B
Stream B will offer a rebate as well as a loan for tenants and Landlords which allows tenant to contribute to the cost of the solar system.
After a rental lease agreement between the tenants and landlords is signed, they can claim a rebate of up to $1,850. Additionally, tenants and landloards can also apply for an up to $1,850 interest-free loan. The tenants and landlords can decide how they would like to pay back the interest-free loan.

HIGH STANDARDS
When you buy solar from a Clean Energy Council Approved Solar Retailer, you can be assured that you are buying a quality product from a company that follows all relevant consumer protection laws and is prepared to back the operation of your solar system for at least five years. The code also has strict requirements that companies must follow in pre- and post-sale activities, documentation and general business practices.
WHY THE CODE?
The Clean Energy Council established the Solar Retailer Code of Conduct in 2013 on behalf of the solar industry to improve customer service and industry standards. The Clean Energy Council already upholds industry standards for solar installations through its installer accreditation program.
The establishment of the Solar Retailer Code of Conduct means that the solar retail sector will also be monitored, and in particular companies that engage in misleading or poor sales and marketing practices.
