We all know that solar energy is produced by the sun and the sun does us a lot of favours. The sun brightens up our mood, kills bad bacteria, can clear up skin disorders and generally makes us feel much happier. The sun also does a lot of favours to nature; plants use solar energy to produce important nutrients in their cells for their growth. Overall, the sun is pretty awesome. But when it was discovered that the sun could convert solar energy into usable energy for the use of electricity- it became even more awesome.
Since solar energy comes from the sun, it is a completely clean and renewable source of energy. Unlike fossil fuels such as coal and gas, solar energy creates zero greenhouse gases or pollution. Fossil fuels are carbon based and using them to generate electricity creates nasty greenhouse gases which are polluting the environment. Renewable energy comes from renewable sources such as water, the sun and the wind.
Our earth will continue to constantly replenish these renewable sources of energy. But fossil fuels on the other hand, will eventually run out and mother earth will not create more for us. It is vital that we rely on clean sources of energy because otherwise when the fossil fuels run out, we will have nothing. The more we contribute to the use of fossil fuels to generate electricity, the more pollution we add to the environment. Greenhouse gases cause levels of heat to rise in the atmosphere and raise the average temperature of our planet causing devastating effects.
Solar energy technology has reached ground breaking levels and there is really no excuse to not implement solar energy wherever possible. Why are we still only using a fraction of the sun’s incredible energy? We rely on the sun to dry our clothes or to tan our bodies, so why aren’t we all relying on the sun to power our homes?
