The Solar House Always Wins!

According to a new report “Smart, Clean and Ready to Go: How Solar Hot Water Can Reduce Pollution and Dependence on Fossil Fuels” by Environment Nevada, Nevada could reduce its pollution and fossil fuel dependency through installing state-wide cost-effective solar hot water technology.

“By tapping the heat of the sun we can reduce the fossil fuels we use for our heating and hot water needs while putting people to work in our communities,” said Leah Yudin, Environment Nevada state field associate.

Solar hot water systems can reduce Nevada’s carbon emissions that cause global climate change and respiratory problems. The state-wide action would be equivalent to removing 87,308 cars off the road.

Nevada’s energy bill would be reduced by $9.9 billion annually, saving residents 3.2% and businesses 1.6% off their current energy expenditures.

Apart from financial gain, other benefits to Nevada would be energy security, reduction in environmental damage and an increase in public health due to less fossil fuels in use.

The Environment Nevada report is leaning towards the conservative side with its figures and calls upon state and federal officials to start enforcing more aggressive tactics in installing solar and renewable energy solutions.
