Obama to Pimp Out Crib with Solar

The latest influential figure to adopt solar solutions is the 44th U.S President, Barack Obama. Plans are going a head to make the White House a more environmentally friendly household.

Besides the installation of solar panels, officials are planning to install variable speed fans and updated building controls. Solar enthusiasts are hoping that the First Family’s efforts will encourage Americans to follow suit.

This isn’t the first time a U.S President has gone solar. Back in 1979, President Jimmy Carter had solar panels installed in the White House. Unfortunately they were removed in 1986 when President Ronald Reagan moved in.

“The people of America need a role model, and that’s what the President is providing for them. With his efforts, maybe more people will be motivated to start utilizing solar power,” commented an AC Solar Solutions representative.

America is adopting renewable energy solutions with 30 large-scale solar power plants constructed, over 1.3 million homes using solar energy, totally 8,500 megawatts of solar power capacity installed.

It’s taken 27 years but the White House will soon be solar friendly again. Activists are estimating a considerable increase in solar installation once the White House solar plans are completed over the next several years.
