Combining the old with the new

 Solar Panel

The Option

The most common way for metropolitan and suburban households to source electricity has been to connect to the local electricity grid. Solar Hybrid System’s give consumers more options by adding Solar to their existing electricity grid access. Having access to Solar means you’ll be paying less to electricity providers, receiving government rebates for unused energy, and reducing your carbon footprint.

Add Batteries
Any extra electricity the solar panels produced is fed back into the grid and the household would be credited back for that electricity. Now a second option has become more readily available in connecting your solar power system to a solar battery. Storing your excess energy in a battery to be used later has many benefits on top of the feed-in method.

Benefits of Batteries

Better Value
Connecting your Solar Panels up to a Battery gives you better value for your electricity when compared to the feed-in method. When you choose to feed your excess electricity back into the grid, your local utility company will credit you an amount for that electricity. However, they will never credit you an amount that is equal to the rate they sell electricity to you. Some States credit you less than others, and some don’t credit you at all. Storing your electricity for later means you get better value because you’re not selling back your electricity just to buy back at a more expensive rate.

Upgradable
If you have a solar battery and decide to upgrade to a larger size, or even add a second or third battery, the process is very simple. Battery installations are quick and easy and won’t disrupt the rest of your solar power system.

Add Later
Feed-in tariffs offered by state governments won’t be around forever, but the good news is if you have chosen to connect your solar power system to the local grid, there is no reason why you can’t simply upgrade to using a solar battery later. Not to mention in Victoria the feed-in tariff has just more than doubled from 5 cents to 11.3 cents per kilowatt hour!

Becoming More Affordable
Solar batteries have been around for several years but haven’t always been the most affordable option for the average household or business. Today solar batteries are a fraction of the price they used to be and are more affordable than ever!
