If you are thinking of investing in battery storage with your solar system, or you want to add battery storage to your current solar system, then you need to read this article!
The conventional solar energy system includes solar panels and an inverter. These solar panels absorb energy from the sun and the inverter turns it into electricity when the sun is shining. Solar batteries are added to the solar system installation to store excess solar power for later use. For example, at night when there is no sun, the higher your battery’s capacity, the more solar power you can store, therefore the larger the solar system it can supply.
There are a couple of options, depending on your chosen solar system:
Solar Grid
Solar Grid connected Energy Storage System is a mini solar power plant that can generate electricity from solar power and store it for later use.
This Energy Storage System converts direct current (DC) electricity generated by solar panels to alternative current (AC) electricity for the grid and load to DC for battery storage. The electricity will be provided for consumption first, and the excess electricity will be stored in the battery. After it is fully charged, the remainder will be fed into the grid. Once the power goes down, the inverter will activate the Emergency Power Supply (EPS) to ensure the energy from the panels and batteries can be used to power the home.
Solar off- grid
A stand alone power system supplies electricity to properties that are not connected to the public electricity network.
Electricity generated by solar panels either directly powers your electrical loads, or charges batteries via an inverter/charger controller. At night, the inverter supplies the energy stored in the battery bank to be used, and when the sun comes up the next day the cycle begins again.
There are two different ways of configuring a remote power system; these are known as AC-Coupling and DC-Coupling, each having their own unique advantages. The configuration type will have an impact on the life expectancy, efficiency, and flexibility of your system. Contact us for more information.
Some of the important benefits of having your storage battery system installed are that you have your own energy 24 hours a day without the need of paying utility bills for an additional power generating source.
You can calculate how much your Return on Investment for a Solar Power System would be. Understanding the Return on Investment will also help you calculate the size of the system that is most suitable for you.

Obviously the larger the system, the higher the initial investment, but it also means more accumulative savings in the future!
